FF14 Leveling Guide: Leveling up quickly in FFXIV is harder than you thought? We’ve all been there – looking for ways on how to level up faster. Well in this general leveling guide I’ll be listing all ways I know of to make life to max level a little less painful. Just to clarify, this guide is for any combat class. And mostly does not apply to gather or crafting classes. If you’re a new player, or an old-timer leveling an alt – it’s good to read this to remind yourself of what to do (and maybe learn something new).
This is one of many reasons you might be considering fast leveling in FF14, but how you can reach the new level cap 80 – now that the FFXIV Shadowbringers release date has officially arrived – depends on your position.
Equally, you could be starting the game afresh – in which case you should consult our FFXIV new player guide – or looking to level up an alt to join the big leagues. Either way, our FFXIV leveling guide will help. If that’s you, or you’re just looking to blast through the mid-game grind, here are our tips on fast leveling in FFXIV.
FF14 Fishing Leveling Guide
[1-5] We begin by assisting the Fishing Guild with the quest My First Fishing Rod. It is immediately available once you’ve equipped your first rod from Sisipu at the Fishing Guild. Go head and fish up the 5 Lominsan Anchovy required for the quest by using your Cast ability while facing towards the water around the fishing guild. Continue fishing after you’ve handed in this quest until you reach level 5. Your next quest, Bigger Fish to Fry, requires 3 Harbor Herring which can also be found in the waters in town. Go ahead and fish at the guild until you’ve completed this quest.
[5-10] Next we’ll try our hand at freshwater fishing. With the Crayfish Balls, we obtained from the last guild quest we’ll head out to Middle La Noscea and fish at either of two freshwater rivers just north of the entrance to Limsa Lominsa. Our next class quest at level 10, The Princess and the Fish, will require a high-quality Princess Trout. If by the time you reach 10 you have not acquired such a fish, don’t worry! Just check the market boards in town (The guild master can’t tell the difference).
[10-15] At this point I recommend beginning to use Guildleves to speed up our leveling. In Western La Noscea, nestled in the far eastern side is a small village called Swiftperch. There is a vendor here that sells Goby Balls which we’ll use to catch the fish we need. Fish off the cliffside in town and you’ll catch everything you need to hand in for the leaves. Be sure to hang onto any White Coral and Rothlyt Clam for the level 15 level.

Mining Quest Level 5: 50 Bone Chips
Level 1 Mining Levequests: Ul’dah Adventurers’ Guild & Scorpions Crossing.
Level 5 Mining Levequests: Ul’dah Adventurers’ Guild & Scorpions Crossing.
Where to find Bone Chips? You can complete both of these quests in one go, to save time. So make sure you have both sets of items ready before you return to Adalberta (10 Copper Ores and 50 Bone Chips). If you’re lazy you can also buy this from tradecraft merchant NPCs (not recommended).
Mining Quest Level 10: 99 Obsidian
Level 5 Mining Levequests: Ul’dah Adventurers Guild & Scorpions Crossing.
Level 10 Mining Levequests: Western Thanalan Horizon.
Where to find Obsidian? Yup, 99 Obsidian. Get used to this. You can find Obsidian in Western Thanalan (The East Hammer). Again, you can buy this from NPC’s but I wouldn’t advise it.
Mining Quest Level 15: 10 High-Quality Cinnabar
Level 10 Mining Levequests: Western Thanalan, Horizon.
Level 15 Mining Levequests: Eastern Thanalan, Camp Drybone.
Where to find Cinnabar? The HQ Cinnabar shouldn’t be hard to get. They’re found in Western Thanalan (Horizon).
